The Model Engineering Section is in Barrow Park, close to the Leisure Centre and adjacent to the lake. We run 3 1/2” and 5” gauge elevated, that uses Wooden sleepers. Plastic chairs and Aluminium rail and includes on site an ex-Furness Railway Gate/Signal Box circa 1890 that was renovated in 2017 and a workshop. Power is provided by a 10.5 KVA lister generator that powers the machinery, lighting and of course the kettle. The track is open to the public on Sundays and Bank Holidays from Easter to October (weather permitting) The club also run for local schools and disabled charities by arrangement during the week. The Section meet on Thursday afternoons from 1.30 to 4.30 and Friday evenings giving members chance maintain the club fleet of locos, rolling stock and general maintenance of the site.
